The largest Anglo-Saxon hoard has recently been reported. The Staffordshire Hoard was first discovered in July 2009. This find is extremely important as there is limited material culture from this time period. It consists of over 1500 mostly gold items. One of the coolest pieces has a great biblical inscription on it: "Surge domine et dissipentur inimici tui et fugiant qui oderunt te a facie tua" ~ "Rise up, o Lord, and may thy enemies be dispersed and those who hate thee be driven from thy face"
What an AMAZING find!!! Read more by checking out the link below. http://www.staffordshirehoard.org.uk/ |
